Problem
The new beginning
Dailyhunt, a leading news aggregation platform, expanded its content offering by introducing a premium magazine reading experience within the app. Leveraging its acquisition of Magzter, the initiative aimed to bring magazine content into the Dailyhunt ecosystem and allow users to discover, purchase, and read premium issues directly within the app.
The initiative was also part of Dailyhunt’s broader effort to expand its user base in Tier 1 cities and strengthen its position in the digital news and content space, competing with platforms such as Dainik Bhaskar and Way2News etc..
As part of this initiative, we redesigned the Dailyhunt app to create a more engaging and contemporary reading experience while maintaining continuity with the existing app

Initial phase
Defining the Product Direction
To align with our goals, we first defined the key requirements and conducted a competitive analysis to understand how similar platforms approached their magazine and content experiences.
We reviewed user feedback and ratings on the Play Store to identify common pain points and understand what users valued across competing services.
This discovery phase included competitive analysis, user flows, and information architecture (IA), helping us establish a clear foundation for the redesign.

UX and wireframe
Creating the First Draft
Once the user flows and key features were finalized, we moved into Figma to create quick wireframes. These wireframes helped us visualize the core experience, validate the flow, and align with stakeholders before moving into detailed visual design.

Bringing the Vision to Life
The primary focus was structuring the magazine screen without disrupting the immersive reading experience. We carefully designed the layout to highlight key articles while maintaining a seamless transition between content discovery and reading.
